Pros: 1080p image quality, ample HDMI ports (3), Stylish looks
Cons: Audio could be better, expensive
I waited for seven months before writing a review to allow the initial euphoria to settle down, and make an objective assessment of TV.
Part of the 2nd generation of Bravia TV, this TV has rich and vivid colour, excellent black levels and incredible high-definition detail.
With the new motion-flow technology, motion blur is minimal as compared to other TV's.
This TV is characterised by stunning picture quality in full high-definition, esp. when watching Blu-Ray or HD DVDs, where the true HD 1080p at 24 frames per second brings out impeccable details- you can even see each individual hair in the actor's 5 O'clock (beard stubble).

A glass bezel dominates the X3100's design, whick makes it look like a framed masterpiece.
The only diffence between the X series and XBR series is cosmetic, with the bezel being metallic in the latter.

One thing that I was not satisfied with was when I upscaled the normal DVD's, but then, it might be expecting too much to comapre a normal DVD with a high definition DVD.
No noise and less electricity consumption as compared to a Plasma.

Remote is easy to use, and you can control various devices- e.g. BluRay player, Home Theatre and DVD player from the TV remote- doing away with the hassle of too many remotes. The back light remote feature allows you to see the buttons you press in the dark.

Very easy to setup -I tuned it myself- a large range of customisation options are available. It even has a cinema mode for the movie buffs, that softens the colour to make it cinemasque ;-)
The audio is good, and it had a simulated stereo and a S-surrond mode, but can definitely be improved.

Using a home theatre system is a must if you want to get true cinema effect, and built in Bravia Theatre Sync will make your life simple.

Last but not least, ask the JB HiFi guys for "deep" discounts, and I am sure you will not be disappointed!

I am sure you will enjoy owning this one.

Pros: Bright picture in light room, Minimal screen reflection, Fantastic Coulurs, Great blacks
Cons: SD signals can look ordinary (depending on the chanel) Some motion blur
We opted for this unit as have a brightly lit room and most of the viewing is done duinr the day with the curtains open. We didn't want to see all the reflections that plasmas and the newer Samsungs produce. The colour, sharpness, and blacks really impressed us in the store and we were hard pressed to see any marked difference when compaired to plasma, infact the LCD was alot sharper.

I did have concerns about motion blur but since I don't watch a huge amount of sports this was not a show stopper. There is some blur but I think this is more to do with my eyes as my wife cannot see it. Half the problem is that this screen is 46" vs my old 68cm CRT so at 3m viewing distance i have to look around the screen to watch it. Took a bit of getting used to but my eyes have now adjusted and I watch the tv now in stead of looking for any flaws that may or may not be present.

As i said above, SD channels can look pretty bad but it depends on the broadcaster. 576i on 7 can look terrible compared to 576i on ABC or visa versa. HD looks fantastic. Can't wait to get Blu ray playing but if the images in store are anything to go on it should be exceptional.

Tv looks great in my lounge. My wife didn't like the blacks of other units but loved the X3100's looks. Remote is easy to use and the "light" button to illuminate the remote in the dark is very cool. Very little heat is given off from the unit and it is whisper quiet with no fan noise or buzzing.

There are a heaps of settings that can be changed for the picture and sound. The best of all this is that you can have custom settings for each of the inputs plus differnt settings for HD and SD tv. This is great as each setting can have a marked effect on the picture quality and improvements that can be made. The sound quality is also excellent so it is not essential to hook up to home theatre to get great sound. (still need the home theatre for movies though)

So overall this is a great TV with a great picture, vibrant colours and is equally at home in a sun lit room or dark home theatre. The staff at JB Hi Fi were very helpfull and had plenty of units for comparison. Would reccomend the TV to anyone and the Bonus PS3 was the icing on the cake.
