Pros: Syncs well with all of my devices - easy to use software
Cons: Small screen
If you want a universal remote with no frills to replace the huge number of remotes that you have collected over the years then this remote is the one you are after... After my girlfriend complaining about needing a computer degree to try and watch a DVD by navigating through about 5 remotes, i bought this baby and it works perfectly and the girlfriend loves it... the "Activities" button makes it so simple to choose your desired entertainment. The software is easy to follow and there is also the ability for Harmony to learn from your remote if it hasnt retrieved all of the buttons or commands. For the price, it is well worth the investment!!!!!

Pros: Massive database online of compatible devices
Cons: Bit fiddley at first
Overall a great remote, easy to use after you get the hang of it. (Read the instructions first). Some time needed in setting up the generic brand equipment as it is more tricky to set up. But still straight forward set up process. The activitys feature is a great addition to this remote as is the light up key pad making it easy to use in the dark, all of these features combined with it's stylish design makes a great addition to any home theatre system

Pros: Looks kinda sexy, feels nicely weighted, nice USB interface, promises a lot..
Cons: doesn't deliver, can not get all machines to turn on, small menu readout, quirky software sequences
After a reasonably smooth PC set up sequence; install software, register with website, download updates, update drivers, update software version, then enter my device/brand/model info - syncing. Whew!!

I've had the remote for most of the day.. and it still will not turn on my old VCR. Despite repeated attempts to 'teach' this new remote from the 'old' remote... the VCR will not turn on. The VCR remote works fine.

Yes I've been through several phases of the menu's and help screens - but it keeps ending in the same place.... "Does this fix the problem?" while I agree this is a great question, when the answer is repeatedly "no" it starts to get a bit tedious.... I keep ending up at the same dead end - no, the VCR does not turn on! The guiding of options reminds me a little like a Microsoft troubleshoot page. Takes you nowhere..

Other Activities as called by the remote, do seem to work fine. Yes it will turn on my Set Top Box (STB), Hard Disc Recorder (select the right input), and TV And several other Activities it gets right. I hate the word Activities it uses though. It sounds like someone saying Now children, were going to play a little game together its called, guess what Im going to let you do!!!?

Well, actually, I have no idea what you are going to let me do?? But Ive got a better game. and its called how about I tell you what I want to do? I already have my system set up so I can record or playback from any number of devices - like VHS or STB to Hard Drive etc. Its all going swimmingly thanks! all I need is a device that integrates with what I have. Thats what I laid down my $180 for!! Thats what it promised to deliver but so far, it has fallen short.

Despite the road blocks, the unit has a sleek evenly weighted feel and look, and appears to be an intelligent device. With what I can see, the unit handles some pretty versatile macros. And defining things like what channel to turn to and at what volume.. Sure saves having to push even a mere 3 or 4 buttons (or remember where I put that STB remote??) to power stuff up and get it humming.

But it doesnt always get the macros right either. Several times Ive had to re-select and cycle to the right input of the TV. Or change the Hard Drive input so it sees the STB. Its almost like the infrared beam isnt wide enough to hit all devices at the same time on power up? So Ive taken to waving it around at each device hoping its still sending the right commands.

The Panasonic Hard Disc Drive has a DVD player/recorder built in, still, I havent yet worked out how to toggle that on/off or play/rec using this remote either. Seems I may be able to create another activity to watch DVD - from a template (then rename - reload), but if you recognize the make and model of my unit, why doesnt it appear as an already available option?

Also theres a configuration where Id like to physically re-patch cables to allow a dub from say, VHS to my lappy through a MPEG encoder. This all seems doable but theres a fair bit of re-naming, updating remote. Blah, blah. Look what time it is?? Slow loads are a bit like watching a defrag!!

Im feeling pretty much like Ive bought a $180 paper weight at the moment. For all the hassle that reaching for three separate remotes is. Its instantly reliable, so I need say no more.
