Pros: www.digitalhome.com.au had a very speedy delivery!
Cons: Try do use it for something out the ordinary...
I bought this remote based
on advertisements and reviews. From these adverts I believed it would be
easy to program, simple to use, make my life easier and reduce the
number of remotes needed to run my system. After checking that it would
handle a Zensonic Z500 I got one.

However, of the four advantages listed above it barely fulfills one (the
reduction in remote controls, and not even that as I have sometimes had
to return to the original remote to correct some failures). Far from it
being easier to program, I have found it nearly impossible. It is not
simple to use as its use has, usually, increase the number of buttons
required to achieve a goal. It definitely hasn't made my life easier.

Pros: Flexibility, programming, well designed buttoms
Cons: Recharge connectors are not pressured
I've been using this unit for six months, During that time I've upgraded the foxtel, to foxtel IQ, changed the amplifier and the screen.

Each time the Harmony was able to find the appropriate units and gets the programming just about perfect. All the foxtel IQ buttons can be mapped to Harmony buttons. Even my wife who hates all things electronic, is happy to run our complex AV system using this unit, as is my 8 year old daughter.

Its fantastic having a rechargeable unit as remotes are hard on batteries. However the contact pins for the device rely on weight to get an electrical contact with base unit pins. It would be better to have a positive plug like a mobile phone has for recharging.

Pros: Easy setup, one-touch operation
Cons: Small buttons
Foxtel digital wouldn't work with my Marantz remote - apparently a familiar complaint with many remotes. Setup forced me to think about how my 6 unit AV installation was connected, but after returning to the configuration website a couple of times for a few minor adjustments, everything just worked. This was amazing, as my Marantz was unable to handle some of the more unique functions of my DVD-HDD recorder, and required individual device selection for powering the required components on/off. Not with the Harmony - one touch is all that is required for either function. No two devices from the same manufacturer, but all work in "harmony".

Pros: So easy to set up
Cons: What cons?
This thing is great. It works. You need to do a little basic work to get it just so, but I have a 6 component set up, with no brand compatibility and different settings for the amp and TV depending on the signal source. No problem.

I know it's a bit pricey but here's the thing. When my 50 something mother in law comes on Saturday nights to baby sit, we don't even talk about it anymore. She can work it out.

Oh my goodness, what happened to all those remotes I had? They are in the draw! I had 5 remote operating my H.T. projector and Rotel sound system all have been replaced my this simple to use remote. I had another 5 remotes in my lounge for our regular viewing system. Now my whole family can operate the system without coming to disturb me as to how to turn things off and on. The ability to download from the internet is so simple and we were able to set the whole thing up in less than 30 minutes each. I brought three 880 remotes and was able to set them for each of our household systems. The recharge system means no more flat batteries.
This remote is the best value for money remote available, hands down. It is the simplist to set up and the vast range of equiptment supported means that anyone can benefit from this product. I love my technology but I like it easy. The fact that evryone in the family can now operate every piece of equiptment in our home with ease makes this product my best buy in the past year.

It makes switching things on/off and adjustment a lot easier, 1 remote instead of 5. It was also easy to program on line allowing the model numbers to upload info to the remote.

This should be sold at time of purchase of your home theatre.

What a great remote! With just the touch of abutton you can control all your devices. I have gone from having 4 or 5 remotes to just the one. Easy to program but does require a little bit more adjustment of buttons with certain brands, especially in the case of my Toshiba TV.

I have tested many universal remotes, from very basic low cost to top of the line fully programmable Pronto/Marantz. For ease of setup and resonable configuration options, the Harmony 880 is the best remote I have ever used. Looks great, with a very good colour screen. Takes a day or two to get used to the layout and some of the buttons are a little small but overall very usable. Lots of real buttons which cover most of the standard functions so you eventually do not have to look at the remote. The online configuration software is fine, although could be more intuitive, however once you get the hang of where everything is you can make it do most of what you want, quickly and simply. It is not as flexible as fully programmable touchscreen controls, but you are not paying the price of a laptop for this either. Nice touches such as options to add channel logos, change the background image and add images for slideshow. Bonus points for supporing and working well for Macintosh users. Bang for buck there is nothing even close. Awesome.

The Best Universal I have had my hands on

It has been a while but the wait was worth it. I have had numerous models of universal and programmable remotes but this one tops the lot. Programming is a breeze and you don't have to be a computer junkie to be able to program the remote. Knowing your way around the internet, plugging it in to the USB and installing the drivers and your away. The online programmig interface is very easy to use. Its asks you the questions about you system and then gives you options on how you want to run it. Once programmed everything is pretty much a one touch operation to swith the whole lot on. My wife was always scared of my theatre system as it usually took 4 remotes to switch it on. Not any more. Push one button and the remote switches all on for you the way you want it. Great one Logitech. 5 stars and worth every one.

It works. It's easy to program. Works with Foxtel, my plasma, Windows Media Center - just cannot complain.Range is good. Finally, the wife can drive the home theatre and the unit is unbelievably easy to program. Best part - colour screen and the recharging station so you never run out of juice. It's awesome, highly recommended.
