The ideal travel companion: The foldable PXC 300 headphones with NoiseGard ™ Advance active noise cancelling technology let you enjoy music even in noisy environments. They reduce unwanted noise by up to 80and the optimised circuit technology ensures reduced susceptibility to mobile phone interference. The PXC 300 is supplied complete with a protective soft case, batteries and aircraft audio adaptors.
The PXC 300 noise-cancelling headphones feature a number of special design
points that make them ideal for the traveller who wants to get the most out of
their journey, particularly if that journey is by plane.
Here at Digital Home we have a great fondness for rugged design. There’s
nothing worse than getting a portable piece of tech that you then you have to
treat like glass. That’s why we love the PXC 300’s patented folding mechanism
and protective soft case, which lets you feel totally confident about stuffing
them into your carry-on luggage as though they were an old pair of socks.
They are ultra-lightweight and have a nifty ergonomic headband with two-point
suspension, leading to a pair of soft and incredibly comfortable, high-quality
ring ear pads. Compared to the awkward, ill-fitting pair you usually get in the
plane, these are like velvet pillows.
The sound quality of these headphones is also superb, thanks to another piece
of excellent Sennheiser design. Special, in-built Duofol diaphragms with spiral
embossing produce crystal clear, super realistic audio reproduction. The mid
range is perfectly detailed and the bass is rich and powerful as a property
baron.
What is especially cool about the PXC 300’s though, is the active Noisegard
technology with which they are equipped.
| |
How it works is this - tiny microphones inside pick up the sounds of the
surrounding environment. The PXC 300’s advanced circuitry then creates a signal
to dramatically reduce ambient noise without reducing the sound quality of
what you‘re listening to. This Advanced Circuit Technology (ACT) onboard the PXC
300’s also greatly reduces their susceptibility to that annoying blipping noise
generated by mobile phone interference.
The Noisegard feature works especially well when it comes to low frequencies
like the loud rumbling of a jet engine. Combined with their excellent, hi-tech
audio quality , these make it possible for you to enjoy your in-flight movie as
much as if you were watching it on DVD at home. They come already supplied with
two adaptors for in-flight entertainment systems, a 1/4" (6.3 mm) stereo jack
and 3.5 mm double mono jack, so all you have to do is plug them in.
Of course, they work just as well with the hum of an office air conditioner,
just in case you need sanctuary there too. Similarly, wear them on the train, in
a noisy house, on the bus - anywhere you want to escape. The noise-cancelling
element makes them an ideal pair of headphones for music, any time, anywhere.
They are also fantastic for watching movies and provide an amazing, fully
immersive experience for the gamer.
With the PXC-300’s resting on your ears you can fly in peace, even if
you never leave the ground. The price includes the travelling case,
batteries and a 2-year warranty.

Pros: Light weight, Stylish, Very good at blocking out unwanted sound. Cons: Not great to sleep in on the plane and not a huge amount of bass, although not too bad. After much deliberation and comparison over noise cancelling headphones, I found the Sennheiser PXC 300 Noise Cancelling Headphones to be the best value for money, and they seemed to have all the features that I was really looking for. Being stylish and not too bulky was extremely important, as well as sharp sound and a relatively high amount of noise cancellation. I had tested out the Sony and Skull Candy ranges of noise cancelling headphones, but found Sennheiser's to be far superior. They deliver superb sound when the noise cancelling feature is both on and off, and are very comfortable for day to day use. |

Pros: Effective noise reduction at reasonable price Cons: Battery holder is somewhat heavy The Sennheiser PXC 300 folding headset is the ideal travel companion for frequent flyers. These headphones are designed to cancel out the frequency ranges that prove to be the most intrusive to commuters and air travellers. These range in the 300hz - 1Khz band. The headphones virtually remove aircraft cabin noise (engine noise and cabin airconditioning sound). They also work well on trains and buses, although they are at their best in aircraft cabins. Please note that they do not cancel out voice so that the air traveller can hear cabin announcements.
The headset is designed for comfort, very important on long-haul flights. The ergonomic headband offers two-point suspension and soft ear cups, and can be adjusted to a variety of positions. Sound quality is very good and there is some amplification coupled with a "loudness" effect, ideal for in-flight movies where sound levels are variable.
The Sennheiser PXC 300 folding headset can be used in standard mode with noise cancellation switched off. This is a useful feature if the battery goes flat in transit.
Because I am a frequent flyer I have purchased three sets from Digital Home, for myself and for my business partners. They represent excellent value for money and Digital Home offers them at a very attractive discount price. |

Pros: They work, theyr light and produce a good sound. Cons: Clumsy to pack away, and you can slice the wire when unfolding the headphones if your not carefull. These headphones work! I am amazed! I just stepped off a London Melbourne flight, and felt a load more refreshed after being spared 22 hours of background noise. It doesnt disappear completely, but its moved comfortably into the background, as are the screaming kids and the steward. When you switch the noise reduction off, or take them off your ears, you realise their benefit. One of my better investments! I wont fly without them again. |

Pros: small, light and uses AA batteries Cons: the external noise cancelling hardware (the extra bit that should be incorporated into the headphones) After my last trip overseas which totalled to over 20 hours stuck in an aeroplane, I decided to invest in a pair of Sennheiser PXC 300 noise cancelling headphones for this year’s overseas travel. Initially sceptical on what a difference it would make, I was surprised at the difference the headphones made and compared to the standard issued headphones provided by the airline (which cannot be even used as a pair of ear plugs), there was no comparison. With the Sennheiser noise cancelling on I could actually hear the inflight movie (with clarity) without setting the volume to near maximum.
My only complaint (besides wishing that the Sennheiser could noise cancelled the nearby screaming kid) was that the noise cancelling hardware was housed externally to the headphones themselves which at times was getting a bit annoying.
PS. Try using them without connecting to the inflight audio system to get some quiet sleep time….. |

Pros: Excellent sound Cons: Cords tangle easily; large battery pack I bought these headphones just prior to a recent business trip to New York, but couldn't afford to purchase a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. Out of the box they seemed to be a well made quality product. The neat little carry case containing 2 plug adaptors was handy and did not take much room in my hand luggage. On the trip they performed very well. Sound quality was excellent with good base response and superb clarity across the midrange and reasonable treble response (remember I was on an aircraft). The noise cancelling function wasn't as effective as I had been led to believe, and despite the manufacturer's claim, seemed to reduce ambient noise by about 50% rather than 80% - this was like wearing soft ear plugs the whole time. Over many hours they remained pretty comfortable, with my main complaints being that the battery pack/noise cancelling hardware is a little large, and I continually managed to tangle up the cords. Overall, though, an excellent product. |

Pros: They work - and they're comfortable Cons: Possibly the Battery Holder The Sennhiesers don't cancel out ALL the noise - but certainly enough to significantly improve the comfort of a long haul trip. Music from the airline system even sounded better - sound from the iPOD was excellent. They're very comfortable to 'wear' - an excellent investment for the frequent traveller. |

These headphones are fantastic. I bought them because I was concerned about damaging my hearing because I would be constantly having to pump up the volume on my iPod to 75to80% so as I could drown out background noise and listen to my Podcasts with some level of clarity. With the PXC300 I now listen to pod casts at around 60% volume capacity and music at 40 to 50% capacity on the bus and walking down the main streets of Sydney. Highly recommend despite their cost. My justification was that they are cheaper than cochlear implant. |

Have just returned from a trip where I took along these headphones. They were great for the plane flight and worked reasonably well on the trains. The sound quality was good as you would expect for an expensive set of headphones. They were comfortable to wear and the battery pack was easy to attach to your pocket and have out of the way. I haven't had any problems with folding them up as some people have mentioned. |

When I put these on on the flight to work, I was a bit disappointed they didn't cut down the sound a bit more, but at the end of the flight when I took them off, the difference was amazing...the aeroplane seemed so loud!
I have also worn them in the office and it really helps me concentrate on my work as they deal with background office noise very well.
The sound quality when I put my MP3 player through them is excellent.
I also do a lot of quiet, steady work outside while a big production plant roars away 100 metres from me and I thought they'd be really good for that. Unfortunately everytime the wind blows you get that load "wind across the microphone" sound. But when there's no wind they're great. |

Bought these headphones just prior to christmas and our trip to Canada/USA. Used them for about 12 hours so far and batteries are still good. Blocks probably 70 - 80% of background noise - I imagine there are better units around, but not for this price bracket or weight. I was very happy with the quality of the units, the comfort in wearing them (even while sleeping), and the overall audio quality (very important to me). Not much use in using them without the power on as I found they actually lessen the audio quality in that case. I think there must be some amplification circuit involved. I found I rested and slept much better with these on, amazing how much background noise we put up with on flights. Even helped shut out the 'Gilmour Girls' incessant high speed chatter behind me - which was worth the price just for that trip!
Good case, lightweight units that do the job - recommended. |

As I travel on airplanes frequently, I've been wanting to get some noise cancelling headphones for some time. Before purchasing the Sennheiser PXC 300, I compared with the Bose Quiet Comfort 2. The Sennheiser headphones are much smaller and lighter than the Bose units and are comfortable to wear for hours at a time. The trade-off is the small cigar-sized battery/electronics wand that can be easily clipped to your shirt pocket. The Sennheisers block out heaps of low-level sound but like the Bose headphones still expect to hear voices and higher-pitched background noise. I think the Bose noise- cancelling is probably 10% more effective than Sennheiser, however for the price difference the Sennheiser headphones are much better value. |

Used them for the first time on a 24+ hour flight to Madrid via Bangkok and London and it was a pleasure! Extremely comfortable to wear even for extended periods or sleeping (and I hate having anything on my head). Noise not completely cancelled but reduced to a light hum - unnoticeable when watching a movie, for which the sound quality is excellent - none of the headaches I usually get after one movie, never mind four! Only real criticism is that it takes a few goes to get the folding right and the case could be better made to hold the battery pack. Overall an excellent product - highly recommended. |

After using the simillar Sennheiser PX200 headphones for almost two years, I was looking to upgrade to 'phones with noise cancelling for overseas travel. I have now had the PXC300's for almost two months and have been amazed by them. I use them along with an MP3 player and the sound quality is outstanding even compared to the excellent PX200. The sound is rich and warm with a slight emphasis on the bass with the noise cancelling turned on which makes it perfect for all the music I enjoy from Guitar riffs to dance remixes.
The Noise cancelling is superb, I travel on buses twice a day and now with the PXC300 the trips are enjoyable as I can travel in almost silence only having to listen to my music. They almost completely cancel out low frequency noises like engine noise, although high freq. noises are not blocked as well.
I read a number of reviews before deciding on the PXC300's and one complaint many had was the small design of the earpiece, often not giving a good "cup" to the ear. The PX200's use a very simillar design which I like so this was not a complaint from me.
Before deciding on the PXC300's I tried on a pair of BOSE quiet comforts which have an enclosed ear design. The noise cancelling on these was pretty much indentical to the levels of the PXC300's whilst the PXC300's are a lot cheaper.
Overall I have been really happy with my PXC300s, After shopping around for a price, no one could match Digital Homes price. The Sound quality is superb as you would expect from anything Sennheiser do, and the noise cancelling is fantastic. I really recomend these to anyone who is annoyed with noisy buses, trains, wives or airplanes. |

I've always been a fan of sennheiser headphones, and these are no exception. With comparable performance to the bose quiet comfort2 at a much less price (get them from digital home!), you can't go wrong. They are also compact and comfortable.
I have recently used them on some 12 hour flights. Listening to the inflight entertainment has never been so clear. In fact, even when I sleep, I leave them on to counter the low frequency engine drone. Definitely made a difference. I felt much more refreshed. |

These are great. They're smaller than some other noise cancelling headphones and come with their own small fold up case. They also come with adapters for use on the plane so you can use them with an iPod but also plug them into the in flight system.
On a recent trip to London i found them to be both very comfortable and effective. Much more comfortable than the ones Qantas supplies in bus class, and much more effective in terms of their noise cancelling ability.
The Bose equivalents are almost twice the price. If you're flying (and that's what they're best for) then get the GST back and they come in at less than $300. Very good value |

 | by B.S Pyrmont, NSW on November 7, 2005 111 out of 214 people found the following review helpful:
I bought the PXC300 because they were recommended in a SMH Icon article (ahead of Bose, Sony and Creative) and I was looking for headphones that would give me that "isolated" feeling. I just happened to be studying at the time and have found that noise cancelling feature really works in almost any environment. It's not that you don't hear the TV or people talking or trucks driving past, just that the white and background noise is muted enough to put you in another 'zone'. This brings the music to the fore (I use mine with my Palm PDA to listen to MP3 music) and allows you to enjoy the whole dynamic range at lower volumes (better for the ears too).
If you were using the PXC300 with an MP3 player while walking/running (NOT recommended as you might not hear that bus about to hit you!) you would find the separate AAA battery pack a bit annoying as the lead is quite long with the battery pack half way along the lead.
Although very suited to study & travellers, the quality of the sound is well up to the lounge room hi-fi experience as well. |

Being a Fearful Flyer, I need as much help as I can get once I'm on that plane. I found the earphones helped immensely; cutting out that horrible drone in the cabin, letting me not only be able to watch the in-flights but also hear them. Best of all I found them comfortable enough to go to sleep in which surprised me considering their size. The size also helps when travelling and you can fold them up and forget about them until it comes to climbing on that plane again.
Remember, you will have to take them off when someone speaks to you (otherwise youll be yelling What? a lot and looking rather rude) and that jolt from relative peace back into the noise of the cabin can be disconcerting.
I've actually lent mine out to a friend who also said they made their travel overseas a lot better and Id suggest to anyone scared of flying, get a pair! |

These headphones designed for plane travellers are lightweight and very comfy. I'm absolutely rapt in them and wish I'd bought them sooner. You don't realise how loud the continuous background drone of aeroplane engines is until you've blocked most of it out. Just back from Japan and definitely feel more refreshed after the 8 hour flight using these headphones. I purchased the Sennheiser headphones, rather than other brands of noise reducing headphones, based on the company's reputation and on web reviews. |

Nice appearance, robust case, snug fit on ears which I prefer to over the whole ear like the Bose. Noise cancelling without listening to a sound source very good on airplanes, cutting out much of the droning noise pretty well, however don't expect total silence! Makes listening to music or film soundtracks on airplanes very acceptable, lower volume than regular headphones is required, so feel fresher at the end of a long trip. They don't cut out those irregular sounds like people talking however. Only slight irritant is a sense of pressure in the ears when using them without a sound source. Certainly no regrets on the relatively large investment, but I fly frequently and long haul and they are worth it for me. |

These work quite well to reduce background noise, especially lower frequencies. The sound itself is quite warm and accurate, although a little light in the lower registers. Although they work without the noise cancellation turned on, the volume is reduced somewhat, and they sound even lighter. Best to run it with the noise cancellation on all the time for the best music reproduction. |
