The HD 555 open, dynamic stereo headphones feature a special internal surround reflector. It generates an extended, spatial sound field, making this model the ideal headphones for home cinema as well as music. Many innovative features such as E.A.R. technology and optimised Duofol diaphragms deliver a whole new level of audio reproduction.

Music and movie lovers rejoice, the Sennheiser HD 555 headphones are here, and they’re nothingHD 555 HIFI/HOME CINEMA HEADPHONE short of amazing. Featuring a special internal surround reflector and a stack of technological advancements these little beauties offer sound so good they will forever change the way you think about music and movies. Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the future of audio.

The first thing we here at Digital Home noticed about these headphones was how comfortable they were to put on. The velour ear pads are like cushions for your ears. You instantly feel relaxed when you slip them on.

Amazingly, one quick extended edition Lord of the Rings DVD later, they are still just as comfortable to wear. In fact, they fit so snugly around your head, you just won’t want to take them off, even long after the credits have rolled. Call centre operators take note, install these headphones at your workstations and you’ll never have to pay your staff overtime again.

With features such as “Eargonomic acoustic refinement” (E.A.R), which channels the audio signal directly into your ears, and advanced Duofol diaphragm technology to maximize the clarity and richness of the audio signal, these headphones take sound to a whole new level. No detail is lost. Every frequency is clearly defined. You get beautiful, translucent sound with warm, powerful bass tones and smooth, dynamic mids.
Another vital aspect of this incredible sonic experience is the HD 555’s internal surround reflector. It produces a multi-layered, spatial sound reproduction – ideal for watching movies, playing games or listening to your hi-fi. This is amazing, immersive audio, that draws you in and transports you to other worlds. It’ll be like discovering all your favourite music and DVDs again for the first time. And all inside the comfort of your own head.

With other hi-tech features like “optimised neodymium ferrous magnet systems” and “super lightweight aluminium voice coils” on board, these headphones are as intricate and complex as a spacecraft. Lucky then that all you have to do to operate them is plug them in and put them on your head. Luckier still that the parts are easily replaceable, guaranteeing the long life of your set. These headphones are outstanding in every department.

These headphones are not only great for music, they are also very good for FPS games. I can hear where people are coming if they're above me, to my right.

Very useful for counter-strike :D

Pros: Crystal clear linear response, comfortable for long listens- don't squash ears or squeeze skull yet fit firmly on head without sliding off, long 3m cable, 1/8th in plug for common stereos/TV.
Cons: Quiet environments only as outside sound comes in.
After a month of listening I am very happy with these cups. The response is almost perfectly linear so the sound is accurately reproduced as intended by the artist - it sounds so good that I have turned off the bass-boost in the EQ.
My first good set of headphones - I hope they last forever.

Pros: Good value for money, high build quality, comfortable for long wearing sessions, no occlusion effect, can still have a normal conversation with the headphones on
Cons: If you like your music loud, others in the room may be annoyed
High end sound for moderate money. I will get myself a quality home theatre system one day, but in the meantime these headphones will do nicely. I am amazed at the subtle sounds which normally would not be heard through mainspeakers. You forget that you are wearing headphones. They sound even better after they are broken in after about 50 hours use.

The Sennheiser HD555 is one of the best headsets I have used to date. The HD 555s are open, full-sized headphones, and they're comfortable even if you wear them for a long time.

The main use of them for me is listening to music, watching movies and computer gaming. The sound is crystal clear and the bass is outstanding. The headset is very comfortable and very light, its as if you are wearing nothing at all.

These headphones are great for a HIFI system as they act like a surround sound system.

For this money, I doubt you can buy a better headset anywhere. Highly recommended.
