I bought this camera as an upgrade from the Kodak Easyshare 7300. Being an amateur, I wanted something that gave me some manual control so I could learn by experimenting, as well as having the easy point & shoot I was used to.

The many scene modes are very useful, and, although I found the beach scene washes out, after resetting to auto mode I got the pictures I was looking for in bright conditions! The large (2.2in) LCD screen is a bonus, as is the orientation sensor for playing vertical shots vertically in review/slideshow mode. You can also watch slideshows on the tv with the cable that is provided.

I've read many reviews complaining about the lens cap, however there is a short cord included which I cut and tied the cap to the camera itself so I didn't have to worry about losing the cap or dropping it in the dirt.

The video quality is ok but you need to set the zoom before you begin recording as you can't zoom on the fly. It's fine for the occasional clip, however the real beauty of it is you're only limited by the capacity of your memory card when it comes to length of recording.

Other complaints I've read are about the battery. I've found it to be quick charging & longlasting, so I don't have any problems with not being able to use my AA rechargables, and I've recently bought a spare battery as peace of mind.

The prints from this camera are great, and the 6.1 megapixels is fantastic when cropping your shots. The menu is straightforward & easy to understand, typical of the easyshare range, and the joystick makes navigation a breeze once you get the hang of it. All around there is more than enough functions & settings on this camera to keep any level of photographer happy.

I have always had a problem understanding most cameras until my son talked me into purchasing my Kodak DX7630 a couple of months prior to me going overseas so I could get use to its functions.

This camera has become my constant companion and I have found it so easy to use and such wonderful photos and video clips - I've even advanced to editing my own photo's and look forward to using it on my overseas trip next month. Infact I am now pricing the lens accessories for it as I feel very confident on the use of the fantastic camera.
