The Canon design team has made great strides in eliminating the recurrent
problems of handheld cameras. The MV940's selectable zoom feature eliminates the
jerky "amateur video" zoom effect of other camcorders, giving a professional
touch to your footage. Its Canon video lens incorporates a double sided
Aspherical element into its design, maintaining optimal colour balance and
minimizing distortion. As with many of Canon's handheld cameras the MV940 also
features a brilliant Image Stabilizer function that stops your zoom shots being
ruined by shaky hand movements. Add to this a built-in sliding lens cover to
protect the precious lens and you have a camera that is capable of capturing
stunning footage in absolutely anyone's hands.
Everything about the MV940 has been designed to be as straightforward to use
as possible. Its viewfinder is a full colour 2.7 inch Widescreen LCD that folds
out so you can see exactly what you're doing. Maximum visibility is assured even
in particularly dark or light environments by its brightness adjustment
function. On the screen itself, a re-designed icon menu system and joystick make
it easier than ever to access the menu functions, start playback and control
important factors like focus and exposure. It even features a horizontal marker
and centre indicator on the LCD to help you avoid shooting crooked video.
To help you avoid shooting boring video the MV940 offers a Real Widescreen
recording mode. Not only does this give you outstanding image quality, but it
also gives your footage a real cinematic touch, especially when viewed on a
widescreen television, monitor or flat panel. If you don't have a widescreen TV
don't worry, you'll just see it in letter-box mode. Switching from 4:3 mode to
16:9 widescreen is as simple as pushing a button. Now that's simple.
Without a doubt, the jewel in the crown of the MV940 is its amazing 25 x
optical zoom lens. Enhanced by a DIG!C DV signal processor and 800K pixel CCD,
the picture quality you can achieve is simply stunning. Get exceptionally close
to your subject and record subtle nuances and details beyond what the human eye
could see, then go in up to 800x closer with the integrated digital zoom. If the
moment you capture is so incredible you want to keep it forever then remember
that the MV940 also takes still shots. In fact, it can take still shots even
while shooting continuously. It's amazing to think that camera's like this are
now widely available. We've certainly come a long way in a short amount of
time.
