Great DSLR for the budding photographer

3 out of 4 people found the following review helpful:

Pros: Fantastic quality at such a price, complete manual control, ease of use
Cons: Stock lenses perform poorly in low light, can still be a bit daunting to the beginner
The EOS 400D really is the beginning DSLR for the photographer starting out. Capturing at 10.1 megapixels at the highest setting, the quality of each shot is outstanding, with absolutely every detail captured.

Canon's manual controls, although daunting at first, after some tinkering become a haven of ease of use, with all necessary controls at your fingertips. Such examples as manual setting of the automatic exposure and focus points combine basic automatic function with manual control, giving fantastic results.

The camera is very light weight, making it a breeze to carry around for periods of time-- and the lenses are very easy to interchange. Another great function is the sensor cleaner. At every time you turn the camera off, a filter in front of the sensor vibrates to remove any pesky dust particles that may have entered the lens while changing them out. Alternatively, if this isn't enough, there is an option for the camera to alter the actual image digitally, after taking the shot, to remove the dust particle from the shot, but I haven't had the pleasure of using that feature yet!

Overall, this camera is highly recommended to any photographer, beginner or intermediate, as an avenue into the digital realm.
